‘Tis the season! 🎄☃️❄️ Here’s a fun idea for a DIY holiday card - a snowman card! Do you send out cards during this time of year? Hopefully this project will inspire you to! 💌

Materials List

The following list has all the supplies and tools you'll need to make this project.

Step 1

Card making supplies - card, watercolor paper, markers, paint brush, ruler

Trim the watercolor paper half an inch shorter and narrower than the card. This will create a nice quarter inch border on all sides for your artwork!

Step 2

Watercolor snowman card supplies flat lay - card, markers, ruler, washi tape, adhesive, paintbrush

Draw one medium sized circle and one larger sized circle below it. I’ve used washi tape rolls as my guides.

Step 3

Watercolor snowman card - closeup of hands placing and gluing sequin eyes

Next, glue the 2 large sequins for the snowman’s eyes and then glue 5 small sequins for the mouth.

Step 4

Watercolor snowman card - sequins for snowman face and body; glue pen, adhesive, washi tape, and markers placed around card

Next, glue the 3 remaining large sequins on the snowman’s body. The glue dries fairly quickly and securely, but let them dry for about a minute.

Step 5

Then, draw the hat, scarf, arms and mittens, as well as outline the snowman’s body with the MONO Drawing Pen (I used the 05 size).

Step 6

Watercolor snowman card - painting scarf green with brush

Did you know that the TwinTone markers are water-based? You can scribble with the marker as I’ve done here and then with a wet paintbrush, fill in the gaps and smooth out all the strokes. It gives your card a nice watercolor look.

Step 7

Just a few small details left. Draw a small pink dot on each cheek and some gray beneath the snowman to create a shadow. Blend with a wet paintbrush to soften the colors and create that watercolor look. Add some lettering with your Tombow MONO Drawing Pen with a custom message.

Step 8

Card making; glue paper to red card with Tombow adhesive

Finally, glue the watercolor paper onto the notecard using the Tombow MONO Adhesive+. Voila, you have your very own DIY snowman card! Now, who will you send yours to?
